A key part of the “Mothers in Crisis: Then and Now” project is a collection of oral histories that explore the experiences of mothers during two major historical events: World War II and the COVID-19 pandemic. Through semi-structured interviews, the project captures personal stories, reflections on motherhood, and perspectives on resilience in times of crisis. Participants from different generations share their journeys, challenges, and coping mechanisms as mothers navigating wartime hardships and pandemic lockdowns.
The interviews delve into diverse topics such as childhood memories, family dynamics, changing ideologies of motherhood, and the impact of these crises on daily life, offering a rich tapestry of women’s experiences and resilience. This project aims to contribute to a nuanced understanding of motherhood and its complexities, particularly within the context of historical upheaval.
