On Saturday 29th August young people from LGBT Youth North West took part in a performance on the theme of ‘Political Pride‘ which they shared with other young people and members of the public. This performance was part of a programme of events designed to provide an alternative space over the Manchester Pride weekend, with an emphasis on bringing Pride back to its political roots.
We worked with young people in creative sessions to share their feelings and opinions on this topic and to devise the final performance. The resulting piece included poetry, song, abstract movement and political awareness raising, in addition to boundless energy and lots of laughter!
You can check out the original song which young people wrote and performed here:
A big well done to everyone involved – we always enjoy working with LGBT Youth North West and look forward to our next project together.
Check out the video of ‘This is How We Got Here’ – our performance created with young people from LGBT Youth North West. This was part of a wider project where young people interviewed LGBT activists and found out about their experiences. Our group used the filmed interviews as inspiration for a short celebratory performance which was warmly received by the audience at 3 Minute Theatre in November 2014. We hope you enjoy it!
We’ve been working with LGBT Youth North West as part of their ‘This Is How We Got Here’ project. Young people filmed interviews with older people from the LGBT community, asking for their memories of activism, youth work and more besides and we’ve been helping them to create a short performance in response to these filmed interviews.
We’ve had some fantastic creative sessions over the last couple of months and the final outcome will be performed at 3 Minute Theatre this Saturday 29th November. Tickets are completely free but you can reserve yours here – look forward to seeing you there!
We spent the day working with young women at LBGT Youth North West on Saturday 8th March, in celebration of International Women’s Day. This year’s theme was ‘Women as Peacemakers’ so we creatively explored messages and images of peace with the group. It was a lovely, peaceful day – check out some of the work they produced!
